Employment Screening Resources (ESR) Client Notices

Important Information for ESR Clients

ESR Client Alert - New Hours of Operation: ESR's new hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST (11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST)

ESR Client Alert (4.17.12)  - - Santa Cruz County Delays: Citing staff shortages and staffing changes, the Santa Cruz court supervisor issued a statement that results can take 1 to 4 business days to copmplete and not to make inquiries on searches submitted less than 4 days earlier.

ESR Client Alert (4.16.12) - San Luis Obispo County Update: Beginning Monday 4/16/2012, searches will be submitted on a bulk list to the clerks who will check the names and return results in 3-5 business days. Only clerks conduct searches in San Luis Obispo. There is no public index. Per court policy, submitting a search on the bulk list pre-authorizes the clerks to print dockets for any case(s) found. Dockets (or file orders) are the only method to obtain case information. Clerks will give no case data.

ESR Client Alert - Santa Cruz County Delays (2.6.12): Santa Cruz Court is suffering a shortage of staff due to severe budget cuts, lay offs, and early retirements. The remaining staff is spread very thin and covers multiple duties including record searches. The clerk who usually did the record searches has been transferred. The clerks conduct all the searches, there is no public index. The searches have been delayed 24 hours with greater frequency. We expect 24 hour delays to be more frequent as time goes on.

ESR Client Alert - San Luis Obispo Court Closure & Search Delays (1.12.12): San Luis Obispo County is closing the Grover Beach Branch for remodeling and for budget cuts. Starting this month, researchers will have to use the index at the Central Court in Downtown San Luis Obispo. We will only be able to check the index once a day while the Grover Beach Branch is closed and we anticipate delays due to the changes.

ESR Client Alert - New Consent Forms (12.26.11): As we outlined in previous Client Alert emails, there are new consent forms for ESR clients to use. For any employer located or hiring in California, these forms are mandated by new state laws effective January 1, 2012.  If you have any questions, please call ESR customer service at 888.999.4474.

ESR Client Alert - Multi-Factor Authentication Required Beginning January 1, 2012: Since ESR is committed to creating an environment that greatly reduces the risk of a data breach to your private employee records stored on our servers, we are proudly introducing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) as our first enhanced security initiative of 2012. MFA provides enhanced security by requiring more than one factor when authenticating the validity of users accessing the ESRcheck System.  MFA was developed based on the requirements of credit bureaus and financial institutions to provide the high level security required of them and ESR has chosen to adopt this same high level of security. For more information, download a PDF file on ESR Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

ESR Client Alert - San Mateo File Delays Update (12.8.11): Clerks in both the Southern Court (Redwood City) and Northern Court are increasingly unwilling to order cases, print dockets, and service a high volume of files claiming they do not have time because of a reduction of clerks due to budget cuts. The Southern Court has also imposed a 5 file per researcher order limitation. This has caused a “log jam” of cases. We will be adding resources to the county to try to handle the backlog and will update clients as the situation develops.

ESR Client Alert - Lake and Placer County Court Furloughs (11.18.11): Lake and Placer County courts will impose furlough days for the end of 2011 and the first half of 2012 due to recent budget cuts. During the following dates, the courts will be closed, the public indexes inaccessible, and no files, case data, or dockets will be available. For 2011: Thanksgiving week (11/21/11-11/25/11). Christmas week (12/26/11-12/30/11). For 2012: Lake courts will be closed the first Friday of every month until June 2012 (1/6, 2/3, 3/2, 4/6, 5/4 & 6/1) and Placer courts will be closed the fourth Friday of every month until June 2012 (1/27, 3/23, 4/27, 5/25 & 6/15).

ESR Client Alert - San Mateo File Delays (10.21.11): The veteran Records Clerk at Redwood City (Southern Court), San Mateo County, has moved to a different area. The replacements assigned to the Records window are slower and less experienced. Many files, already on order, had to be re-ordered, via the new clerks, due to the transition. This situation is affecting all researchers and all Southern Court files have been delayed and we expect longer turnaround for cases located in this court. This will not affect initial results nor cases filed at the Northern Court.

ESR Client Alert - Reduced Hours in San Francisco Bay Area Courts (10.14.11): Recently, several San Francisco Bay Area courts have issued notice of reduced hours. Alameda Courts will close at 2:30 PM. Marin Court will close at 3:00 PM. San Francisco Court will close at 4:00 PM. ESR will keep you updated.

ESR Client Alert - E-Verify Includes Driver's License Verification (6/12/2011): Starting June 12, 2011, E-Verify will collect driver’s license information for employees who present a state-issued driver’s license as a “List B” document. You will notice new screens that support this change; and based on customer feedback, the list of Form I-9 documents displayed in E-Verify will be expanded to include “List B” and “List C” documents consistent with Form I-9.
